CHOIR PROGRAM

CAMA Covid Plan

Fall Session, 2020

Cascade Academy of Music and Arts will not be holding classes for Joyful Sound or Jubilee Singers for Fall Session, 2020.

We WILL be having classes for Melody Makers/Happy Harmony.

Please see the Melody & Harmony class description for details.

CAMA offers three choir classes for students ranging in age 5 - 19:  Melody & Harmony, Joyful Sound & Jubilee Singers.

Some choir classes may be provided music and/or lyrics that must be returned at the end of the semester. There will be a music fee to replace any sheet music that is not returned.

All choirs perform without music, so students are responsible for having their music memorized.

 Melody & Harmony

CAMA Covid Plan

Melody & Harmony classes will not be held in person.  We will be sending packets to our students once a month with their class handouts, homework, and music listening suggestions.  We will be continuing with our reading program, and will be encouraging students to submit their reading lists once a week via email to Mrs. Hinman.  Recorder students will still be encouraged to do their practicing and there will be a once a week "Zoom Meeting" gathering that is optional.  We understand that, at the ages of our Melody & Harmony students, parents will have to be responsible for helping their students.  Our plan is to make it fun for students and not a ton of extra work for parents.  Once registration for this class is complete, we will be sending more information by email for the parents of this class specifically.  Please let us know if you have any questions.

The Melody & Harmony music class is unique in it's age range of 5 - 9 year olds and unique in it's method of teaching.

These children love to sing and learn together, and are preparing for In Harmony Beginning Band as they learn recorder and are preparing for Joyful Sound as they learn about singing. The wide age ranges allows opportunity for students to begin learning to sing in rounds and simple part music.  Music Helpers are older students that are part of the CAMA Leadership Program.  This class includes fun learning songs as well as more simply composed chorus arrangements.

The 9-year old students ("Rhapsody" group) need to have a recorder. If you do not have one, recorders can be purchased at our front desk for $5.00. The recorder book used by CAMA is Recorder Express, and can be purchased at the front desk for $5.00.

All choirs perform without music, so students will be responsible for having their music memorized.

 Joyful Sound

CAMA Covid Plan

There will be no Joyful Sound class held for Fall Session, 2020

The Joyful Sound Choir consists of 10 – 12 year olds.

These students are truly joyful and come each week full of energy.  Students in Joyful Sound are working on begining choral elelments and techniques, as well as learning to navigate their changing voices. The music in this class consists of fun choruses, as well as 2-3 part choral arrangements suited to the age.

Some choir classes may be provided music and/or lyrics that must be returned at the end of the semester. There will be a music fee charge to replace any sheet music that is not returned.

 Jubilee Singers

CAMA Covid Plan

There will be no Jubilee Singers class held for the Fall Session, 2020

The Jubilee Singers Choir consists of 13 – 19 year olds.

CAMA students continue their musical development, most of them coming out of the Joyful Sound Choir.  Jubilee Singers is a class where students will learn to sing in 4 or more part choral pieces that range from classical, traditional choral pieces to more contemporary music.  Students will also be learning more about the basics of reading music and musicianship.
