 BEGINNING BAND

CAMA Covid Plan

Fall Session, 2020

Obviously, nothing replaces meeting in person for an ensemble class.  That being said, our goal is to keep our students moving forward in their musical development and their practical skills with their instruments.  Beginning band students will be working through their band books and will receive additional music in packets.  They will receive homework for their class via email and will be expected to turn in practice sheets on Thursdays to Mrs. Hinman.  CAMA is offering help for students who are brand new to their instruments or are needing help by way of individual lesson times and small sectional classes that will be scheduled after registration.  There will also be a weekly Zoom meeting held on Thursday mornings, which will be a "check in with Mrs. Hinman" time and a chance for students to see and say hi to each other (because, let's get real -- the social part of band is a HUGE part of band!!).  An email list for this class will be put together after registration and more information will come at that time.  Please let us know if you have any questions.

The In Harmony Beginning Band consists of 10 - 19 year olds who are beginning on their instrument.   Students in Beginning Band consist of band members who are brand new to playing any instrument, to advanced students who are learning a new instruments.

This group has great enthusiasm, and learns quickly. We recommend a minimum of 1.5 hours of practice outside of class per week.

In Harmony Band students need to provide their own instrument.  Books may be purchased at our front desk for $8.00, and band instrument supplies such as reeds, valve oil, and cork grease are also available for purchase at our front desk. All In Harmony Bands use The Standard of Excellence Band Books.

Students should bring their instrument and book on the first day of class.  Students also need to be responsible to bring their music and a pencil to every class session.

All In Harmony Band students will also be issued sheet music that must be returned at the end of the semester. There will be a music fee charge to replace any sheet music that is not returned.

 INTERMEDIATE BAND

CAMA Covid Plan

Fall Session, 2020

Intermediate Band students will be working through the Level 2 band books, will receive music in packets, and will be expected to turn in practice sheets on Thursdays to Mrs. Hinman.  There will be a "Zoom Meeting" on Thursday mornings to check in with Mrs. Hinman, ask questions, and say hi to fellow students.  Students needing extra help are welcome to contact Mrs. Hinman for individual lesson time, and/or can plan on coming to a sectional time.  Sectionals and lessons will be scheduled after registration is finished. Once registration is complete, an email will be going out to all Intermediate Band families with more specific information.  Please let us know if you have any questions.

The In Harmony Intermediate Band consists of 11 - 19 year olds who have played on their instruments for at least a year

This is a fine group of musicians who are growing stronger each week, and are able to play more advanced pieces than in previous years.  We recommend a minimum of 1.5 hours of practice outside of class per week.

In Harmony Band students need to provide their own instrument.  ADVANCED BAND

CAMA Covid Plan

Fall Session, 2020

ADVANCED BAND STUDENTS!!  Never fear, Mrs. H is here!  With a plan.  Of sorts....  OK, so we're not really allowed to meet as a class, BUT!!!!  We will be continuing to work on music using our Level 3 band books (yes, there really is one for your instruments) and working through some music theory and music history.

There will be no auditions for Advanced Band until we are able to meet in person.

Advanced Band students will be expected to turn in practice sheets on Thursdays, will receive homework on Thursdays, and will be expected to meet via "Zoom meeting" on Thursdays.  Once registration is complete, we will be assembling an email list for this class with more information.  Please let us know if you have any questions.

The In Harmony Advanced Band consists of 12 - 19 year olds who are advanced on their instrument.

This group is working on very complex pieces. This class requires 2.5 hours of practice per week outside of class.

New students are admitted by audition only.  Students who would like to participate in Advanced Band, need to show up at Registration with their instrument, ready to play a piece for the Advanced Band instructor.

In Harmony Band students need to provide their own instrument. Books may be purchased at our front desk for $8.00, and band instrument supplies such as reeds, valve oil, and cork grease are also available for purchase at our front desk.
